Reason 273 you are a scrapaholic

I changed my dressing table into my scrap table, who needs a table for bottles and makeup when it holds crafty stuff ohh so much better!
I bought so much craft stuff at the weekend that if I didn't put it away straight away "someone" might have seen it eccckkk! I can actually put my legs in under the table and will use this now instead of the dining table yahhhh not having to clear up after every page!
Still looks messy but holds everything sooo much better!

One hundred years from now

These are pictures from my Montessori school and I used the poem one hundred years:

One Hundred Years from now
It will not matter
what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
how much money was in my bank account
nor what my clothes looked like.
But the world may be a better place because
I was important in the life of a child.

I used some techniques I learned in Athlone at the weekend, like the journalling envelope and I got to use my new embosser!! Stay still long enough and I will emboss you!! Going to frame it and stick it up in the school I think

Exploding box

I always get asked how I make these and there's no better place to put a tutorial up than here!
I won't be decorating the box as the person who wants it, wants to decorate it themselves so I will just do the box it's self

4 x 12x12 sheets cardstock

1 x sheet minimum patterned paper

Paper clips (can be used to hold corners together on lid while drying)

Layer one: Inside sheet (the one you see when you open the box) I will call this the pink layer

Measure 4” from each corner and using a bone folder score the page and cut out square in each corner

Layer two: Middle sheet- black layer

Measure 3.75” square from each corner and do same as above

Layer three: Outside sheet-purple layer

Measure 3.5” square from each corner and do same as above

This picture is all the sheets layered on top of each other, there are little scraps that you can use to decorate the inside of the box

Fold up flaps of the box, don't worry if you can see the inside layer peaking over the top, you just trim them down so the pink layer is the shortest and the purple will be the only one seen when the box is folded up

Round all corners and I inked the pink layer for more emphasis

Stick glue/double sided tape in between layers to stick them down, The purple layer (outside) does not need to be glued

TIP: It can be tricky enough layering the sheets on top of each other so just hold back the flap closest to you so you can see where you are positioning it on 3 sides

8x8 sheet and score with a bone cutter 1 ¼ “ the whole way around so it makes a rim. Fold back using the bone cutter.

Score a diagonal line in each corner to meet the corner of the 1 ¼ “

Bend the corner into each other on all four corners, they should just fold into each other. I used double sided tape so I didn't need the paperclips but if you use wet glue you will need to use them to hold in place.

I added a ribbon to the lid using double sided tape again and tied into a bow (a messy one at that!)

I LOVE my new embosser and embossed a stamp on top (shhhh it's a bit messy) and mounted it on the spare pieces of scrap I had left over.

I embossed flowers on the inside sheet and voila! Hope this helps you make a gorgeous box like this!

Yup that's what you get working in an office with no windows...I forgot what the outside looks like! I used gold peely stickers and they kinda disappeared in the picture but they look fine in real life!

Uccccckk I hate these shoes! Have to wear them for afternoons in the warehouse and man it kills me! They are the most unfeminine shoes and so heavy to wear, you really do have to plod everywhere! I wonder would it be against regulations if I bejewelled them?

You can lead a dog...

but you can't get rid of his fear of heights!
He gets very upset if we don't at least let him TRY to climb the stira, I say try as in he puts his front 2 paws on the first step and beings to shake! I'll never be able to sneak the Christmas decorations down in November if he keeps this up!

This sketch is taken from creative scrappers blog, I love all their sketches and how their design team interprets each sketch

New addition the family

Ok ok so she's small and hairy but still a new addition! Completely wild still and it's like trying to catch a bar of wet soap but ohhh so cute! Diablo is fascinated by her and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing!
Made lil handmade embellishments (birds on a tree) and just crumbled and inked some circles for the tree. The name was just patterend paper cut around woodchip letters and then inked

When good ideas go wrong

I had a great idea to make the story of how we met into an old timey style newspaper ad but it went dreadfully wrong! The glue seeped though the photo and someone (not looking at anyone in particular) dropped a dot of water on it and it warped.... papers were all wrong but I just NEEDED to scrap :)

Rain rain go away

Even if I say please? This dog is going to forget what a walk is, but he knows he's on the lookout for something!
He turns around every now and then with this pleading look in his eyes "Make it stop" I tell him he lives in Ireland and it's a given and until he wears his wax jacket he is not going anywhere....he hurrrumps and turns his back on me. Maybe tomorrow....

Louise had a baby girl!

No not me! A lil girl born this morning!
Here is the card I made for her, can't get enough of these tri-fold cards!

Happy September

Pinch poke first of the month, har har Derek I got you this month. I will be up waiting at 12pm on the 31st to get you again!
Ok so I get it, the summer isn't coming I'm resigned to the fact but a dry Autumn would be lovely (lovely she says as the rain pelting on the window is louder than the radio)
I made a puzzle album, I think that is what they are called and will do one for the next scrap class. I had loads of photos from climbing Croagh Patrick but none worth a LO in themselves so a mini album was perfect.
